Intentions

Welcome; the intention is to tell a little about my whereabouts, travel adventures, and issues at Elk Ridge, including when I will be on the ranch, when a great time to visit (send grandchildren), etc. Hopefully there will be different divisions for Travel, Ranch Activities, etc.

Kansas

Took a drive out north, checked out the farms. Beautiful country! I actually do have a pard in this project, but he's kind of a city guy and is on his way to the East coast and will never know what I'm gonna do next...Ha!
130 years of down-home, runnin' through my blood.." (apologies to Alabama)
Still, it is beautiful, and there's still a lot of turkeys still roamin' free!
Love to all,
Dad/UR

Reunion..

The two "pioneers" left, 93, 94 yrs old, doing pretty well thank you very much!
Had a great day; I emceed this year, and talked Judy into saying a nice prayer of thanks. She did the Best Job!
"don't take for granted the love this life gives you"
"when you get where you're goin', don't forget to turn back around"...(Love that song)
Love to all,
UR, Dad

Picnic Get together!

That time of year again, the 65-63rd Dickson family reunion, Emporia Kansas!
 I recall a little story:
Life is like a wonderful train ride! When it's your time to get on the train, the first people you are likely to meet are your parents, followed by close relatives, then others quickly follow.
As the train continues through the journey, you will move around the different cars, meeting different fellow passengers, most of whom bring joy, some who bring pain, but the train continues and you change cars with continued different experiences. The train stops frequently, with some people continuing to get on, some get off. You notice the journey starts off rather slowly, but keeps picking up speed as you go along.
Then, suddenly, it's your time to get off, but the train continues on.
Our little family reunion reflects that, brings it home.
We had a wonderful extended family reunion: more stories, current events in the different families, babies to discuss and display, new generation.
 Couple of photos..
