Intentions

Welcome; the intention is to tell a little about my whereabouts, travel adventures, and issues at Elk Ridge, including when I will be on the ranch, when a great time to visit (send grandchildren), etc. Hopefully there will be different divisions for Travel, Ranch Activities, etc.

Day 1

First full day at the ranch:
Long but uneventful trip up yesterday, picnic en route, ran into a neat old car show in Alpine.
John and Sara came up and met us shortly after our arrival! Good to see them!
Really windy today, but a fun night last night at Tal-Wi-Wi and got to listen to Sara doing kareoke! Then a quick visit at Derrick's house. Looks like lunch with Montalto's today, after I get the fence fixed...again.
Now,anyone heard from Kristin? They had some nasty storms go through Atlanta the other day; guess no news is good news!
Anyway, we're up here, looking forward to a fun week.

Ranch

Home today.
Canero Lake was good to me yesterday, caught several nice rainbows,
brought home a couple of 15" ers for supper. Always hard to leave this
place but come back in 5 days!
As always, doors open, love to have company!
Say a little prayer for the folks in Reading, KS. Nasty tornado.

Ranch

Who would have thought, needing a fire in mid May. It's beautiful up
here, just chilly. Horses are loving it! Do are we.

Snow in May?

Got the word, there's snow @ the ranch, about 3", but at least it's melting rather quickly. Crazy.
Going up tomorrow with the horses, then will move a couple of the cows, then come snow or ice, I'm going fishing on Canero Lake with the kayak.
Staying until Sunday, then coming home to (ugh) work.
Any takers? Come on up, bring fly rod...

Utah

Sitting in the airport, heading home, after a really nice few days. Fishing could have been better, but the water is really high after 130% snow pack this year in Utah. It is really pretty around here as the snow lingers on the mountain tops, ice still on some of the lakes.
Home today, where it's 90 degrees.
Love to all, Dad, UR

Park City/Utah Trout trip

Howdy all, greetings from Park City, Utah! Came up here at the invite of a friend from Tucson to stay in his condo with a few of his old med school friends. We flew commercial into Salt Lake, then rented a van (there's 5 of us) and drove up. It snowed here last night and it's still chilly, but it's great to be up here! The high mountains are beautiful and can't wait to get to those fast flowin' rivers!
Staying here until Sunday mid morning, then returning to Tucson to meet with Wayne and Anna Symmonds. They will stay with us from Monday eve (at least that's the plan) until Wed am. Thursday am I plan on taking the horses back up to the ranch, and meeting a guy who has bought one of our heifers to help transport.
In the mean time, here's to big Browns and tasty Brookies! Love to all, UR/Dad
