Intentions

Welcome; the intention is to tell a little about my whereabouts, travel adventures, and issues at Elk Ridge, including when I will be on the ranch, when a great time to visit (send grandchildren), etc. Hopefully there will be different divisions for Travel, Ranch Activities, etc.

Judy has been nominated as a "Health Care Hero" by the Wichita Business Journal.   She wasn't aware of it until somebody mentioned it to her at a party and at church a few weeks ago.   I'm sure she didn't mention it last week when she was in Emporia.  There is a dinner on Tuesday night, September 1 at the Hyatt Regency downtown honoring all of the nominees.

Click on the links for a nice picture of Judy and more info.  I will probably buy a table and would love to have family from Emporia come down to help honor Judy.

Cody

Friday night, Cody Wyo.
Wouldn't look for this outfit in Vegas any time soon, but we're having fun and so is the beer drinking harmonica player.

Bill Cody Ranch

Saw a mommy moose and a little mooselet crossing the river, about 100 yds up stream. Really cool.

Bill Cody Ranch

Saw a mommy moose and baby mooselet crossing the river above us about 100 yds.

Bill Cody Ranch

Made it to the ranch, Leg # who knows.
Good day today, horses tomorrow.
Caught some fish, couple of big ones.

Closer

MOO

From the car, couldn't move. I need a drink.

Close

Old Faithful

One last pic this am: there she goes. I remember the daughters posing there, all dirty and grimy, after a week of back packing out in the wilderness of Yellowstone w all the encounters that implies. But they were all just brimming w a new self confidence, self awareness and appreciation, though maybe they didn't realize it at the time..worth every step.

View for morning coffee

Maybe my favorite place

Memories

Sought this out, can't describe the emotion looking at this sign, short hike down the trail.

Real Tetons..

Leg 5, or 6

After an inglorious start yesterday, culminating in Droughtbuster being left on the tarmac in Rifle due to line of thunderstorms even at about dawn, we just Drove. 9 hrs. But!
It is so beautiful here:
Tried to seen a couple of pics, they bounced, so likely one at a time. Just delete if tedious, won't be too many..
First. Welcoming committee, Tetons.

Grand Lake

Off they go!

Journey.

OK, on to Leg #4, left WP via Grand Lake, to Glenwood Springs for dinner a good friends from Snowmass, then on to Rifle to fetch Droughtbuster (wholly living up to the name this fast) and on to Cody tomorrow.
A shot or two from Grand Lake. It's been Years since I've seen Grand Lake and Lake Granby so full of water. Amazing, and good to see.

Drat

Keep forgetting the photo..

Gooseberry Pie!

For the record, here is a photo of the Great gooseberry pie I made yesterday for a dinner party! Deelish! Good thing I gave my friends the pie First, then the raw berries to sample, or they wouldn't even have tried it..but it truly was quite delicious. Thank you Aunt Ruth and Aunt Augusta!
Love,
Dad/UR

Fourth

Well, tried to send a couple of photos out, file too big, so one at a time I guess...
A big Thanks to those who could make it up to the ranch for a great Fourth! We had a great time all around, for sure.
I was thinking, 11 years ago this 4th I opened up the new cabin, had a couple of glitches if I remember correctly, and had a great family gathering. The California Dicksons' came (save Doug and family) and the Olathe Dicksons' came, (save for Mark I believe), and even Mom and Dad drive down for the festivities. I'll never forget that week end, and this one rivaled it!
This is a pic from the parade in bustling downtown Alpine AZ!
Love to all,
Dad/UR
