Intentions

Welcome; the intention is to tell a little about my whereabouts, travel adventures, and issues at Elk Ridge, including when I will be on the ranch, when a great time to visit (send grandchildren), etc. Hopefully there will be different divisions for Travel, Ranch Activities, etc.

Travel Update

Greetings all: just news from Tucson/Up-dates We've been busy, just completed two dinner parties in a row. Mr. Ahn and his wife Christina and the Hannley's came over for a great steak dinner (he gets enough sushi....) on Friday, and last night we had another 10 people over for ribs (delicious!!) and birthday cake for one of our friends. A really nice evening on our back patio with the waterfall going, etc. Tomorrow am early Lynn goes back to work, I fly to the ranch, pack up hunting stuff in the truck, then start the drive to Kansas for the annual turkey hunting with the cousins. I would love to fly it all the way but, true to form, Drought-buster strikes again! Weather looks terrible, but I do have a window to fly up in the morning. We are looking forward to U K's and A S's visit to Phoenix the last week-end of April. I'll be up that Thursday am to actually go to a medical CME conference to continue w my AZ license, then Lynn will drive up Thursday afternoon w Autie and we'll spend Thurs through Sunday at Erica and Jeff's. Unfortunately, Erica and Jeff won't be there since they are going to Texas, but will return Sat night so we'll have some fun together for a while anyway! We get to babysit Seamus for once! and the cat.. Other travel plans for the summer: Winter Park starting the 16th of July range, and then Lynn and I have a week of Dude Ranching in Montana starting the 24th! The name of the Ranch is Richs Ranch (appropriately enough), and it's an hour north-east of Missoula along the Blackfoot. We'll horseback ride, explore the Bob Marshall Wildnerness area, and fly fish our hearts out. The Blackfoot, as you might recall, is the river featured in "A River Runs Through It". Definitely on our Bucket List! Then, in August, to Florida to visit A Diane and U Ron with Erica/Jeff and Megan! Lynn is on call the Fourth of July week-end so that particular time frame is unsettled. Love to all, U R/Dad

P.S.

Forgot; did a quick jaunt up to Marble Canyon, near Page AZ, w a friend for some fly fishing on the Colorado R. Beautiful country, thought I'd share some. Had a blast, but cut short a bit due to winds and Snow!

Update:

A nice spring day in Tucson! We drove down to the Empire Ranch, a few miles north of Sonoita. It's a historic ranch down there, very pretty country. Several old films made on the ranch; Red River w John Wayne, 3:10 to Yuma, and Oklahoma for a couple. Anyway, we took our houses and joined a little trail ride.
Things to come: up to ranch to take up some horse panels, then back to Tucson.
Next Sunday start to work my way to Kansas for some turkey hunting and visiting for a few days, then home.
Looking forward to Ken and Susan's visit at the end of the month for his Phx meeting!
We're fine down here, trust all us good where you all are!
Love to all, Dad/UR

Just updates

Greetings all; it's been a while so just some updates, curiosities of Arizona: We did go the NFR in Vegas as previous post; Lynn bought a horse at auction, finally got it home to Tucson. Long story... Christmas was fun in Phoenix, but unfortunately my professional skate boarding career was prematurely cut short with the assistance of Mateo...a little left shoulder separation and nasty hip bruise. Shoulder will most like need a little cortisone injection since it's been 6 weeks now and I'm still not sleeping. Memo: no skateboarding in one's late 60's. Ski trip to Whistler Canada was great with Ash and grandchildren and Lynn, all had a good time. It actually rained the first couple of days or so, then turned to beautiful snow. Whistler is indeed beautiful and we would all love to go back. It was so beautiful, in fact, I just couldn't stand it so went skiing shoulder and all, just slowly. As it turned out, maybe too slow, since I ran into a small bank of wet snow and instead of throwing ski I felt that distinct "pop" as a muscle in my left calf separated. But that's slowly getting better...and of course Lynn and I got the mandatory URI's from the airplane, most likely. Again, slowly getting better. Coming Up: Alice (Symmonds) and husband Joe Campbell coming down for a visit to stay several days! Will be great to see them and show them around. I can't wait to see them! Spending Valentine's week-end at the ranch with some friends from Tucson, then back home. I'll probably get back to ranch the 24th or so, pack up, head up to Winter Park. I'm assuming I'll have a good shoulder and left leg again by then!! Lynn flies into Denver Saturday, good friend Robert Dyck picks her up, joins us for some skiing with Ash and a couple of grand-kids or so for a few days again. Then Lynn and I drive home. Somewhere before then I have some airplane stuff to get done. On the 17th of March we will be visited by Brian and Cathy Hallamore, good friends from Calgary that I met several years ago on the Rhine River cruise, then have since stayed with them a couple of times in Calgary for the Stampede. We really look forward to seeing them again and we'll have lots of fun. They really treated Lynn and I well when we visited them last time! And, that's it from the Tucson Dickson's. Trust all goes well around the country, that UK/AS 's visit to the southeast went super, and that Kristin and Thomas's new baby still doing great! I haven't heard much from Florida either, figuring AD is still in the swimming pool or something! Love to all, Dad/UR
